Heather Hunt

Since 2022, Heather has been a dedicated board member, bringing over 25 years of expertise in animal health and welfare. Her career has been devoted to promoting and improving animal welfare through her prior work at various veterinary hospitals, the local humane society and her current role with the Alberta SPCA. She also spent several years working with an Assistance Dog International (ADI) accredited organization, leading the Health & Breeding program. During this time, she collaborated with various international ADI organizations in Canada, USA, Europe and Australia, gaining valuable insights into assistance dog programs and the profound human-animal bond.

Heather’s dedication to animal advocacy extends to her volunteer work, where she has supported animal rescue efforts and participated in spay and neuter clinics both locally and internationally. Outside of her professional and volunteer commitments, she enjoys spending time with her husband, two adult children, and her diverse group of pets: three dogs, a cat and an African Grey Parrot. Heather and her dog Luna, a 4yr old Landseer Newfoundland dog, are certified as a CAAWLS team.
